Overview

83W USB socket: 65W USB-C PD + QC 3.0

Charge a laptop and a phone at the same time from your vehicle battery. The USB-C Power Delivery port delivers up to 65 W, enough for most laptops including MacBook Air and 13″ MacBook Pro, iPads, Nintendo Switch and cameras, while the Quick Charge 3.0 USB-A port fast charges your phone at up to 18 W. Fits a standard 29.2 mm hole in the dash, console, battery box or caravan wall.

  • ✓Voltage limit range 9–31V: the socket works across the full swing of a 12V or 24V system, from a flat battery to a charging alternator
  • ✓Low contact resistance (under 100 mΩ): less heat at the plug, more power to the device
  • ✓Firm plug grip: plugs need up to 1,500 gf to pull out, so cables stay put on corrugations
  • ✓Salt spray tested and impact rated to 8 kgf: made for boats, beaches and rough tracks
  • ✓Rated -25°C to +85°C, with a hinged weather cap over the ports

Fitting

  • ✓Hole size: cut a round hole of at least 29.2 mm (a 30 mm hole saw works) in any panel, dash, battery box or canopy wall
  • ✓Space behind the panel: allow about 53 mm for the body and terminals, plus room for the wires
  • ✓Mounting: push the socket through from the front and tighten the threaded retaining nut from behind
  • ✓Wiring: push-on spade terminals marked + and −. Run the positive through an inline fuse close to the battery
  • ✓Suggested fuse: 10A on the positive feed
  • ✓Terminals: 6.3 mm spade terminals, 10 mm apart

For best laptop charging, use a USB-C to USB-C cable rated for at least 3A (60 W). Most cables that come with laptops are.
