The HR-1 Nav is a 3-in-1 driving system. It combines a dedicated GPS navigator running Hema Nav, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Full HD front and rear dash cameras in one unit. The maps are stored on the device, so it keeps navigating where your phone has no signal, from the daily commute to the end of a remote track.

Hema Maps has been mapping Australia since 1983. Its Map Patrol teams travel the tracks to verify and record changing conditions, and that field-checked data feeds into the maps on the HR-1 Nav.

Hema Nav and the Hema 3D Explorer Map give you customisable turn-by-turn voice guidance on the road, then switch to remote navigation mode for touring and 4WD tracks. The map includes 10 m contour detail, track difficulty ratings, vehicle access information, seasonal closure alerts and track notes.

Frequently asked questions
Does it need phone reception to navigate?
No. It is a dedicated GPS navigator with offline maps, so navigation works without mobile coverage. Wi-Fi adds extras such as live traffic and rerouting.
Does it have a battery?
No. Hema designed the HR-1 Nav without an internal lithium battery, to avoid battery swelling and heat-related shutdowns in hot cabins. It runs from vehicle power, or from any USB-C power supply for stand-alone use.
Are map updates included?
Yes. It includes three years of quarterly software, map and data updates. Hema 4WD Print Maps (powered by Memory Map) are available as an optional subscription.
Is the rear camera included?
Yes. The front camera is built in and the rear camera is included.
What warranty does it have?
Hema covers the HR-1 Nav with a 3-year limited warranty.
