The Olight Javelot range is the long-range hunting torch a lot of Aussie hunters and farmers know best. The original Javelot Pro and Javelot Turbo have been replaced by the Javelot Pro 2 and Javelot Turbo 2, and the popular hunting kits can be hard to get at times.
If you’re weighing up a Javelot, or want another option in the same class, have a look at the Speras T217 V3. It throws a 1,500 m beam at 3,000 lumens, and the T217 V3 Hunting Kit comes with a remote switch, filters, a mount and a hard case, much like the Javelot kits.

Both first-generation models are discontinued. The Javelot Pro (2,100 lumens, 1,080 m) was replaced by the Javelot Pro 2, and the Javelot Turbo (1,300 lumens, 1,300 m) was replaced by the Javelot Turbo 2. If you’re replacing one of those, the Javelot Pro 2 and Turbo 2 are the natural upgrades, and the T217 V3 is another option at a similar size.
The Javelots are excellent torches with a big following. The Javelot Turbo 2 has an 8 m wireless remote that docks and charges on the torch, and the Javelot Pro 2 has battery and brightness indicators around its side switch. Yes. The original Javelot Pro was replaced by the Javelot Pro 2 (2,500 lumens, 1,050 m), and the original Javelot Turbo was replaced by the Javelot Turbo 2 (1,800 lumens, 1,500 m).
Both are rated to 1,500 m. The T217 V3 is rated at 3,000 lumens and the Turbo 2 at 1,800 lumens. The Turbo 2 uses a wireless remote, while the T217 V3 Hunting Kit uses a USB-C remote pressure switch. The T217 V3 charges from any USB-C cable, so there’s no special magnetic lead to keep track of.
The T217 is the torch with its battery pack, holster and USB-C cable. The T217K is the hunting kit: the same torch plus a USB-C remote pressure switch, red and green filters, an equipment mount and a hard shell case.
Red helps keep your night vision and is less likely to spook game. Green gives good contrast for spotting pigs, foxes and other pests at distance.
No. The V3 is a big step up in output, moves to a bigger battery pack and adds the USB-C port that runs the remote switch. Make sure you’re buying the V3.
